BOB DYLAN’S GIGGING BANDS has one simple mission; to put on record in an easy-to-read form those guys and gals who get paid to be there night after night, backing up the phenomenon we know as Bob Dylan.

I HAVEN’T INCLUDED the multitude of “special guests” who are constantly invited onstage at his shows, or other people’s bands where Bobby has just shown up to do the odd song.

Nor, come to that, have I detailed the musicians he’s used in studio sessions down the years; you can get most of these from album sleeves and CD inserts. (If you want more, I seriously recommend you check out Clinton Heylin’s excellent “Behind Closed Doors - The Recording Sessions 1960-1994”.)

NO, THESE ARE “just the ragged clowns behind…”; the gigging bands who’ve kept Bob company over a million miles, and who we’ve seen onstage a million times.

If I’ve missed someone out, I know you’ll let me know. But for now, simply enjoy…
